Just 'cause I'm tired and grouchy and it's been a long week...

If I read on one more braggart's blog that he/she has never suffered from writer's block, I'm going to hunt 'em down and slap 'em.

Yeah, I said it. And I ain't askeered o' you.

Now, that's scary.

You'll never hear that statement from my mouth, that's for sure.

And the little bastards add insult to injury by further stating that they don't "believe" in writer's block--if you're blocked, you just aren't trying hard enough.

If you're blocked, you're just lazy. (Well, ok, that last one might have some merit in my case, but still...) Someone also posted this little bit of wisdom "if you're blocked, it's because you're not writing."

Oh, Great Dispenser of Wisdom: BITE ME. If I could write, I wouldn't be blocked, a$$h0!#

Yeah, my mood hasn't improved much. :)

Avery, I don't believe I've seen that on your blog, so you're safe for now. And Stewart, I haven't seen it on yours yet, but if it's buried in there someone, I'll swing by and pick up Wayne on my way to Michigan. ;)

Did you ever see the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Calvin carves a big block of wood and puts it on his desk. Hobbes asks what it is, and Calvin says it's a writer's block. You put it on your desk and it blocks you from writing there.

LOL, Charles.

Hmm... though that sounds suspiciously like the words of those smug "never blocked." Are you saying I've brought it on myself? Created my own block?
(Googles Charles Gramlich looking for address...) ;)

Actually, I think I have. I've been trying to write something that doesn't really "speak" to me. Maybe that's the problem. That, and fear. Dangit.

I had seen Charles' comment about that C & H strip on Stu's blog and thought about it immediately when I saw your post, Kate. It's funny how we consider things. That strip said to me this....

In cases of writer's block it means that I can't write right there. Meaning whatever you're wanting to write about...just forget it. It's not coming, maybe later. Thus, you must come to the other section of your rather large desk and consider writing there. Hence, a different subject altogether.

Maybe this morning I couldn't write what I wanted to write, what I had planned on doing. So in some type of crazy response to that I wrote letters about having the Super Bowl on a Saturday. Sure, I didn't get what I wanted done, but I still wrote and I am confident the rest will come.

Don't google me in order to kill me, please!

LOL, Susan -- I didn't say I was going to kill people, just slap them. ;)

But I wouldn't do that to you or Charles. I enjoy your blogs too much to want to hurt you. :) I'm glad you took the time to write the Super Bowl letters - I thought they were great!

Having some hint of the subject matter in which you choose to write I think that this link may serve you in an inspirational form. If not, I think at the very least it is an intriguing read.

Thanks for the link, Susan. My protaganist, Mary, (see post "Let 'er Rip") is followed by the ghost of her dead husband (she accidentally shot him on their honeymoon) and this did give me some ideas.

Y'know, those posts denying the existence of writer's block or claiming never to have had it always sounded to me like so much whistling in the dark. ;-)

Thanks, Lynne! :)
